About Our Worship

1. The Regulative Principle

This is the term we use to express our conviction that we should worship God only in the way He has authorised in the Bible. Another way of putting it is to say that nothing is admissible in the worship of God without definite scriptural appointment. We endeavour to follow this principle, and for a secondary guide we broadly follow the Westminster Assembly's Directory for Public Worship, 1645.

2. Centrality of Preaching

We believe in the scriptural importance of preaching, and the sermon is the climax of our worship.

3. Praise

We sing from the Book of Psalms in the metrical Psalter, and from Christian Hymns

4. Bible Version

The Authorised Version of the Bible is used at all our services and meetings. We believe it is still the best English translation of the Word of God. In the course of our worship we read consecutively through both Old and New Testaments.

5. The Lord's Supper

This follows the service on the 1st Lord's Day morning of each month, and the 3rd Lord's Day evening of each month. We welcome to the Supper all who have repented of their sins and who are relying solely upon the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation. Such persons must also be in good standing in their own local churches.

6. Collection

No collection is taken during the services, but there is an offertory box on the table at the back of the church, to the left of the door.
